Bentley Substation Help

Hook Point Symbols

Hook Point symbols are created using the Hook Points Manager. The 3D model supports two different types of symbols - Single objects and Variable objects. Two or more objects can be stored in the symbols library as a Bentley® Substation™ macro. Those macros can be placed in the 3D model by using the Insert Substation Objects tool.

Single Objects Attributes

Single objects require the following attributes to be associated with the symbol:
  • Device ID
  • CopyConstrDrwToProj
  • PlaceMethod
  • ObjectType
  • VarFixedStartZ

Apart from the Device ID, these attributes are required due to the Match function.

Variable Objects Attributes

Variable objects require the following attributes to be associated with the symbol:
  • Device ID
  • CopyConstrDrwToProj
  • PlaceMethod
  • ObjectType
  • SagAlgorithm
  • VarSagParameters
  • VarFixedStartZ
  • VarFixedEndZ
  • VarFixedLength
  • VarStartXYZ
  • VarEndXYZ

Apart from the Device ID, these attributes are required due to the Match function and sag algorithm.

Composite Objects Symbol Name

The composites symbol-name is used to determine the type of the composite. The composites symbol-name is arranged as follows:

132KV-CIRCUIT_BREAKER-ABB-CB_TYPE_A
<Category>-<Discipline>-<Manufacture>-<'type'>

Where 'type' will be applied to the Part Number/Description control in the Insert Substation Objects dialog.

Hook Points Applied to Symbols

Hook Points should preferably be added to the symbols when creating/altering the symbols. If the HP is applied to the symbols in the symbol library, the HP will be part of the symbol. This will promote consistency in assembling the symbols.
